Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you know that video is “BIG!”

If you aren’t aware, here are some stats to get you excited:

  • 75% Of Executives Watch Work-Related Videos On Business Websites At Least Once A Week
  • Website Visitors Are 64% More Likely To Buy A Product On An Online Retail Site After Watching A Video
  • Click-Through Rates Increase 2-3 Times When Marketers Include A Video In An Email
  • Real Estate Listings With Videos Receive 403% More Inquiries Than Those Without Videos
  • Subscriber To Lead Conversation Rates Increase 51% When Video Is Included In Email Marketing Campaign

In other words, those who use video close more deals.

But there’s a lie most people tell themselves and it’s this: “Video is complicated, time-consuming and expensive.”

Because it’s not!

And to prove it, here are 3 types of edit-free video that you can produce with an inexpensive webcam in under 5 minutes:

1) The Follow-Up

Old School PhoneUsing a video to follow-up a sales phone call or email inquiry is incredibly powerful.

When a prospect makes an inbound inquiry, most people follow-up with a boring plain text email, a few scattered pictures and maybe links to YouTube.

We do this when the prospect is most interested in knowing “Are you a real human (as opposed to robot) that I can trust?”

This is why following up with a personal or evergreen video email is so powerful. The video puts a face to the name and builds trust and rapport.

2) The Blog Post Add-On

Video ThumbnailBuilding on the same principle, adding a short video into a blog post has several several benefits.

  • It builds trust and rapport.
  • Increases time on-site which is a key driver of search rank.
  • It allows you to capture broader themes that are hard to explain using text.

Perhaps most importantly, the primary value of adding a video to your blog post is to give you the opportunity to add another dimension to the way you explain the topic.

Initially, you can do the add-on format. And when you get more comfortable on-camera, you can make the video the primary, and simply add supporting text (like I’ve done in this post).

Note: My play rate has double as a direct result of adding the video at the top of the post, above the post itself. This is a feature of the WordPress theme I’m using.

3) The Thank You Page

video-vs-text-thank-you-pageI believe everyone and their uncle is tired of seeing generic thank you pages that say “go to your inbox now and confirm you’re email.”

I know I am.

And what’s ironic is we work so hard (and often spend a considerable amount of money) to get people to opt-in, but then greet them in this impersonal and slightly-careless way.

It’s kinda like inviting guests over for dinner, and then when they walk through the door saying “Sorry you can’t come in yet. You have to go around to the back of the house, click a button, and then you can come back here and I’ll greet you.”

Bar a few exceptionally patient and understanding folks who truly love you, you’d be eating alone most nights.

So use a quick video to place on your thank you page for maximum engagement and trust building.
