Thanks for you comment, Karl.

Here are some points to consider:

The Q3 doesn't need an external mic, it has studio quality dual condenser mics onboard.

Also, one of the major advantages we have is velocity from idea to actuality. While the corporations are still waiting for their next board meeting to put forward a proposal, we can pump out informative and timely content. The key then is speed, not awesome video quality! And yes, I do have a prosumer camcorder, you are very right, but I barely use it. I prefer the Q3 because I can make videos quickly and easily.

I have "played" them all...even bought a Kodak zi8 with external mic jack to play with...its just OK. And I take it with me most everywhere cuz you never know what will pop up. HOWEVER, All of these point and video cameras are just too limiting in what they encode in or dont have a external mic jack . ..while they might be OK for impromtu YouTube stuff they mostly fall in the catagory of a expensive toy considering all of the limitations they have. I shoot everything with a Canon GL2 (edit in PP) OK so I dont take it everywhere with me it is a VERY portable easy to handle camera (the choice of a huge number of skateboard videographers for easy handling)...and for most people this is too much to spend...however for my money if I wanted to get the best video camera for the buck, and didnt want to break the bank, I would spend about $300-$400 and get a mini consumer video camera that shoots DV tape with a external mic jack....then you will have a avi file that can be edited in anything under the sun...like the free MovieMaker program on every Windows PC on the planet. An other benefit of a mini DV video camera is that most of them have a remote control (something none of the Filp style cameras have) and if you get a inexpensive tripod you dont need a camera person to do "taking head" videos...for your website, blog etc.
Just my opinion....it just seems like many people (in postions to influence) are talking up Flip style video cameras...however they still use a pro-sumer or a pro DV video camera to do nearly everything ...that really matters. I think alot of newbies...are not getting the full story...and think all you need is a Flip camera and point, shoot, upload and whammo...rock and roll.
