For starters, you might be wondering, “What is TweetDeck?”  It’s a new tool for managing your Twitter account(s).  I started using it a few weeks ago and it has really made managing my social media presence a lot easier.  It allows me to manage all the information I gain from my followers, and then leverage it in my planning and marketing efforts.  With TweetDeck, I can monitor conversations right from my desktop.  The program even makes a cool little chirp sound when something happens.

So why should you download it?  I’ve listed five reasons:

  1. Keep tabs of what people are saying on multiple accounts – What good is information if it’s outdated?  I can monitor conversations as they’re happening and on multiple accounts simultaneously.  Personally, I want to know if people are talking about me, and what they’re saying.
  2. With the New TweetDeck iPhone App, you can use this tool anywhere you go - …provided you have a signal.  Now you’re free to Tweet efficiently and effectively all day long – talk about enabling an addiction!
  3. It’s on Adobe Air - Adobe Air is a really cool platform.  The program is practically online, so it doesn’t matter what operating system you are using.  This is the way of the future!
  4. You can segment your followers - This is huge!  With TweetDeck, you can divide your followers into groups based on whatever characteristics you want.  Segmentation allows you to separate your friends from your customers/prospects for easy viewing.
  5. Manage your Facebook too! – Now you can keep tabs on your Facebook account at the same time as you Twitter account(s).

I couldn’t be happier with this little tool, and I suspect that a lot of you would enjoy it as well.  So give it a shot, and let us know what you think.  If you’re already using it, please share some tips.
