Using a Flip Camera that records to MP4 with jiveSYSTEMS

The Flip HD is a fantastic camera. The only draw back is that it records to .mp4 files, which cannot be directly uploaded into jiveSYSTEMS.

In the following tutorial, we use a little file type trick and the same Pazera converter we used for QuickTime files to import your Flip HD footage into jiveSYSTEMS.

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

  • The Flip is an easy camera to use; which is why we recommend it.

Since your camera is recording to .avi, you can directly upload it into the system without having to do any pre-processing. We have a blog post explaining how to use a Flip Ultra with jiveSYSTEMS:

If you want to edit the clip to trim the beginning and end, we recommend using Windows Movie Maker (or iMovie for a Mac). Those are free video edit programs that will allow you do some basic editing. From there, you can export the finished version and then upload it into your jiveSYSTEMS account.

I wish you had noted this file type problem in your description of the 3 cameras you recommend. Then I would not have bought the Flip. Also, my flip file is not mp4. It is AVI. How do I get the AVI file into FLV? And how do I edit this video file?

If I cannot easily edit the video file, at the very least chopping off the undesired beginning and end, then I cannot put this on the internet.
