Installing ffMPEGx on Your Mac

ffMPEGx is a fantastic piece of software that lets you convert between video formats. However, the actual ffMPEG movement is an open source project.  This means that a set of binary (aka video converting) files are publically available.  While these files do the job, there is no user interface.

ffMPEGx is the user interface between the binary files. As a result, installing it is a little more involved than just running an install file. We must first download the binaries, and then tell ffMPEGx where they are on your computer. The following tutorial shows exactly how to do that.

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

.
Once you have ffMPEGx installed, you can now learn how to use it.

I kept getting that last error message until I finally realised that it was because I don't have a password on my computer. I had to make a password for my computer before I could install the binaries! Thanks for your tutorial!
