Speed Reading

Would you like to permanently increase your reading speed without decreasing understanding?

Here are some tips:

  1. Read as fast as possible while using your finger to trace under each line. Reading is a series of sequential snapshots. Your finger prevents regression.
  2. Begin each line focusing on the third word. This utilizes your peripheral vision that is usual squandered on the margins. The goal is to read with less eye movement.
  3. Once comfortable indenting four to five words, start taking only two snapshots – also known as fixations – per line, on the first and last indented words.
  4. Practice reading too fast for comprehension using good technique (1 thru 3). This is a speed drill that will heighten your perception and increase your reading speed.

Reading speed is calculated in word per minute (wpm). The average person reads 300 wpm. The generally considered “good” reading speed is 600wpm. Your reading speed will increase dramatically by practicing the above steps for just a few minutes each day.
